  • All types of probs after idle in Win2k

RC3, G400 SH32, and the new Beta drivers. After the system is Idle for a while I'm getting all types of system corruption: Page file too small, characters disappearing from windows, Even Ctrl-AltDel won't shutdown the system. Reboot and all is OK. UT runs great, no probs. Leave the computer for a while, and all goes to pot. Anyone else?

I'm having OpenGL problems galore, although I haven't noticed any desktop issues. I'm going to run a couple of SETI clients for a while and see if I can reproduce your error.

What's weird is, it runs GREAT when I'm here at the computer. But when I com back I'm guaranteed errors to the extent I can't keep track of them all. I'm wondering (since it's a clean install of RC3) if it was just a fluke bad install. Never had the first problem till this driver. And it's creating no events when Dialogs tell me it is.

Although he denies having W2K on his system, Kruzin frequently takes the nightwatch and maybe he has some insights. It's a weird problem. No issues when running a fairly resource intensive game, and then all hell breaks loose when it is doing nothing.

Have you tried unistalling and reinstalling the drivers?

My display goes to black for a second or two when W2K is loading and the splash screen is up--about 2/3 through the progress gauge. Once I'm at the desktop, with the exception of the OpenGL problems (both Q3 Test 1.08 and 1.09), everything seems OK.

I'm running RC2, by the way.

everettes: It sounds like it might be acpi or apm. Try turning em off in your bios and disabling in windows and see what that does.

everettes, are U using any of the OPENGL screen savers? On my config, this gives GPF's and later on hard locks.
After turning it off, I can leave the PC running for ever.
However, it is not detected as an ACPI PC, as RC2 was (?) so that might still be the difference.

It must have been left overs from the error I received from trying the screen savers. It did ok last night. Hopefully there's nothing to worry about. Thanjs for the replies guys.
