  • Scratched monitor

    Hi!
I know that this is not really Matrox-related, except to the extent that my dual monitor setup is run by - you guessed - a G400. Anyway, while moving my monitors around I scratched my old buddy Nokia 447W. The scratched surface is not deep but it's pretty large (some 1x1cm). Now everytime I look at the screen is see a little rainbow (light decomposing in the scractches). Any idea how I might at least alleviate the effects of this?
    Thanx.

Only thing I can think of is calling you local autoglass repair shop.... Perhaps the scratch/chip repair techniques for windshields would be 'compatible' with a CRT.

There's a product that I use on my hockey visor to hide scratches, something like that might be a temporary fix

They have a type of solution that is supposed to repair scratches on CD-ROM disks. The solution is supposed to fill in the scratch, and let light pass through/reflect in its natural manner. You can pick up a whole bottle of the stuff for under 10 bucks, and, if it doesn't work with your monitor, you can still use it on your CDs

If the autoglass repair doesn't work then it's only going to be fixed by replacing the crt! I know of no known method other than that that could possibly do it and wish I did as I've had many potential customers ask for such a fix. Sorry but that's it.

Sorry, guy.. nothing makes up for being hyper-careful in the first place. I learned that from many a boneheaded move like yours there.. I feel for you.
