  • Is Final Reality 1.01 good for anything anymore?

    I use 3dmark99 full to benchmark but I was wondering if it was still useful to use FR 1.01. And also what exactly was the agp benchmark on it supposed to tell you? I ran mine on my k6-2 450 128 sdram g400 32 SH oem with max heatsink/5ns sgram and got an agp score of 88. Is that good? Agp2x and busmastering are on.

    Past it on benchmarking,but cool for system testing and checking out stability of system.
    Especially on new install or upgrade.
    The agp test,just showed speed of agp and stability.(once again,cool for testing)

      ok so the score of 88 tells you nothing other than agp is working???

        An AGP score of 88 doesn't mean anything, unless you tell us WHICH AGP test you ran. If that was the 32meg test, yes...that's a decent score. If it was the 4 meg test, that sucks.

            If this is the AGP test in FR, I don't remember if that's a good number or not.

            It also matters what res/color depth you ran the test in, and 16 or 32 bit z-buffer (both in the software, and in the drivers).

            Run the tests in 3dMark99max. And compare those.

            For reference, at 800x600x16x16zxtriple buffer, I got 145.1 in the 16meg test, and 82.2 in the 32meg test.

            (running 2x AGP without forcing it)

              damn kruzin I ran the same settings as you I think, why did I get such a low score ACK! is AGP on socket 7 systems that bad?

                I don't have a SS7 to compare to...but if that was your score with the same settings, in 3DMark, not FR, something doesn't sound right. The 16meg AGP test on a 32 meg card will not even use AGP. At 16meg, all of the textures will fit on the card's memory...

                But I'd find someone with a similar system to compare with before comparing apples and oranges

                  Kruzin sorry that was my numbers from FR 1.01 not 3dmark. on the 16 meg in 3dmark I get 113.8, which still does not sound that great

                    Why Do I get the exact same results ..82-32mb 146-16mb ..on a 650 athlon.. is my girl running slow..

                    All the newest drvs.. agp natural X2

                    Total = 4816mrks

                    Or is it just the restriction of 3Dmark.. Inoticed the FPS looks a little maxed out!!

                      MadOnion2000 will be out on Dec 6, so they say. Just got a wallpaper in email from them for entering their silly name that bitch contest.

                      I always thought FR looked better than 3dmark myself, it was just useless as a benchmark, I mean grabbing the cpu MHz and dividing my 100 is no great trick.

                            I get 41/30 in the 3DMark99Max game tests with a plain G400 and a K6-3 450. That's with overclocking and without. With a TNT 1 and a K6-2 400 I was getting 30/26.
