I don't quite remember when this starts happening, but it's a fairly occurence. My windows and screen refresh are now unpleasantly slow; painting a 1.5MByte bmp wallpaper takes 2-3 seconds, closing a 2D windows takes 1-2 seconds. All these operations used to be instantenous but no more. Reducing the screen resolution to 1024x768 32-bit color fix the slow refresh problem, but this is not the right screen resolution. Removing the 1.5MB wallpaper also fix the problem.
* 1600x1200 at 16/32-bit color
* G400Max bus mastering: on
* AGP aperture size: tried 64, 128 MB with no visible difference
* polygon acceleration: on
* graphics hardware acceleration sets to full
* 32-bit Z buffering: off
I hope someone can give me a few pointers to debug this problem. Preferrably not by doing a Windows clean install!!! I would rather hack windows registry. Thanks.
My system's configuration:
P3-650 oc 728, 384MB PC133 SDRAM, Win98SE, ASUS P3B-F, G400Max, SB Live Value, Adaptec 2940UW SCSI, Promise Ultra66 card, Expert 27G HD, Maxtor 27G HD.
