Why are the 5.41 drivers freezing my machine?

I've tried every combination of overclocked, voltage, underclocked, upside down, you name it, I've probably tried it. End result, about two minutes into an acelerated game...lockup that requires a hard reset. I can run looping demos for hours with the 5.3 drivers without any problems. What gives?

try using different irq's for the card and make sure you're not sharing the irq with anything else(the only thing you can share it with is a pci steering irq holder)that solved a locking problem(on games)on a athlon sistem i was putting together.

Well, different IRQ's make no difference, and I can't exactly try a different slot

Try downloading the registry hacks from MURC's utils page, force 1xAGP, and see if that helps...

Thanks Kruzin..I'm at work right now but I'll try it when I get home. Is there any reason the 5.41 drivers would require this hack whereas the 5.30 don't? I can see for the few brief moments that it runs, UT runs better and it eliminates the flashing textures in 3dmark2000, so I would like to be using the 5.41 drivers.

No reason in particular that I'm aware of....it's just something worth trying when experiencing lockups....

Have you tried flashing the BIOS of the P2B to 1011 (final) ?? Bios 1011.zip

The NMI could be your fault (Non Maskable Interrupt)...

Thanks for the tip...as I said above, I'll have to wait until tonite to try any of this. They get kinda suspicious when I drag my box into work and tinker with it
It does seem like a hardware conflict, doesn't it? Between this stuff and trying out a couple more Celery's tonite (stupid batch of stubborn chips) I should have a busy (frustrating?) evening
