I am currently running under Windows 95 OSR2 with USB support. System specification.
PIII-450
128Mb Memory
PC133 VIA chipset motherboard
G400 MAX
AWE64
17GB UDMA-66 hard drive
2x Philips DVD
Philips CD-Writer
I have G400 on it's own IRQ, bus mastering on and an AGP size of 128MB. Nothing obvious running in the background.
On 3dMark 99 I am getting a 3D mark of 3387 and a synthetic CPU 3D mark of 4026. Everything is running sweetly.
I was happy till I ran 3dMark 99 on a PIII-450 machine at work using Windows 98 and although it didn't have a G400 card in it, it had a synthetic CPU 3D mark of 7098.
My question is can Windows 98 make that much difference or is it something else?
I don't really want to move unless I am reasonably sure I am going to get the benefit as everything is running so well.
