I'm in a way glad 3dmark2000 came out - it really shows off the G400, see the screenshots in Jorden's thread in the Soap Box ( http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum9/HTML/000092.html ).

I don't care how high a number I get, just as long as it's fast enough for me. I can't stand up to competition anyways now, as I have only a PII (although it is runing at 515Mhz) so my scores are pathetic in comparison, eventhough the real-world performance is not that far behind.

On a different note, A geforce might beat me, but it won't produce a screen shot like I just posted!

Well for one, whenever they update any benchmark the numbers are invariably lower. The reason for this is to compensate for the increasing proformance of cpu's, graphic cards, etc.

It won't, why not? Doesn't the G256 do dot 3 bump mapping, etc, etc, etc? I'd be interested in seeing some comparison shots if there is an issue there.

Geforce does Cube environment mapping, enable it to produce acurate real time reflecions of the environment, pretty nice when it is used effectively, but a differemt effect to EMBM

p.s. Do my eyes deceive me or in the 3dMark2000demo doesnt it have real time reflections, on the girls legs when she's walking... and later in the room on the water, it accuratly reflects the environment...... or is it me?

A geforce screenshot would be very nice id like to (ahem) compare the difference..
not the fastest... but i'll settle for the best visual quality :O)
