  • Yumm.... G600 :-)

    Hey,

I was reading in the ars technica board and a reader posted this in the video forum:

"FWIW, I was talking a guy at a computer store today about the Matrox cards. He (and some other geeks) got a chance to see a prototype of their next card. He wasn't given many details but he did say it would have 64 MB of RAM and would be called the G600. It won't be out till at least May and will retail for about the same as the GeForce.

From what he saw he says he is sure that the G600 will kick the GeForce's ass all over the place."

May or may not be true... but I just get all tingly thinking about it.

Whoever posted that is so full of it, his eyes are brown

Nobody has seen any "prototype" of any such "G600" card, as it doesn't exist.

I have no doubt that Matrox's next (and/or next gen card) will kick serious booty, but don't listen to people's half-baked speculations, as they generally don't have a clue what they're talking about...

        Sure,

some guy at some computer store seems to be more important than our guys (Ant, Kruzin, etc.) and has seen the next generation Matrox card AND isn't under NDA. Very reliable source. ;-)

I bet Matrox' next card ain't gonna be called the G600 - that's just too tacky. G800 is much better! Doubling is better than just adding 200, isn't it? Double the performance and everything? No? OK, I'll go back to my cave now...

I don't know what you guys are talking about, because I've seen the newest prototype board and it's name is the Matrox X4000 (the whole G thing became to wussy). It uses a 25 million transistor GPU, that has full hardware acceleration for every DX7 AND OpenGL feature (yes, full hardware acceleration for both API's). It even uses hardware EMBM, T&L and the works! It has Anti-alaising, staggered buffers (T-buffers) and a Dual 512-bit bus. It does have 64 MB RAM, because they are using Embedded DRAM, like BitBiys Oy, and thereby giving it the effective fill rate of 3 Voodoo 5 6k's! It has DH, plus a SVHS out and needs a peltier to cool the video chip. And if you believe a word I am saying I have a bridge in New York I want to sell you!

Although I do not believe this person saw a prototype board, I am sure they exist now. Matrox starts sampling to OEM's in December. They have to do it early to secure deals.

Wow, saying that it will have 64mb of ram and won't be out until May.....he sure went out on a limb there...he must work for Matrox to have that kindof information.

Holly doesn't own the Brooklin Bridge, I do. It's up for sale if anyone wants it. I would keep it, but they won't let me put up toll booths.

You guys may own the bridge, but I own the toll rights. That's why you can't put up toll boths. You'll need contact me about those, we'll only on the NY (Manhatten) side.

And you can also ask about the water front property I'm selling here in FLORIDA. Water in front, water behind, water underneath, sometimes it's refured to as the EVERGLADES.
