Will the supplied softDVD player that comes with the G400 MAX work with SCSI drives?
Will the supplied softDVD player that comes with the G400 MAX work with SCSI drives?
More specifically, Pioneer 104S(10x SCSI) or Pioneer 303S? I heard that softDVD players like Cinemaster/PowerDVD and such cannot use them. Is this true? If so, which players will work?
Thanks.

My boss has a strictly SCSI configuration, and Matrox SoftDVD Player works fine. But he does not use a Pioneer DVD drive though. I think it's a Phillips.
Myself, I use WinDVD along with the Pioneer 303S drive, and I never had any troubles with this configuration.
Just my two cents

As I always say: You can get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than you can with just a kind word. My beloved Parhelia was twotiming with Dan Wood - now she's gone forever and all I got is this lousy T-shirt |Stolen Rig|RetroGames Rig|Workstation Rig|Server Rig|
Woohoo!
I am trying to get the 303S(no region code, hate North American versions of foreign films. IE, dubbing) but might end up with a 104S. Thank you soo much guys and gals.
P.S. If I do end up with the 104S, would I be able to use DVD Genie(or something similar) to change the regions(and more than 5 times)? Thanks.

I've been using the Pioneer 303S for several months now without any problem. I do like the convenience of the slot access. The drive is a bit "clackety" but this may be normal as I haven't heard other DVD drives operate. I've yet to try digital audio as I'm still debating over how extravagant I should get regarding an AC-3 decoder.
I wasn't aware that there was a 10x SCSI DVD available until I saw your post. Pioneer's web site show's this unit as a "future" model. Is it shipping? Is it a slot drive? I noticed they added CD-Text support on the 104S.

grail: toshiba makes good dvd drives, and the 1212 is regionless. I have that unit, it is really nice, and very quiet. I picked mine up from buy.com for $58
