  • Unreal Tournament / Q3A

    Howdie Folks.

Any idea when the Z-Buffer errors will dissapear ???
It´s quite annoying to see / not to see textures in the distance or edges that look like stairways.

I don´t think that it´s just a Unreal Tournament (or Unreal or Unreal Addon) problem. I _once_ got rid of these errors, when I used the Beta ICD, but then I had bad clipping errors...

It would be very nice to see UT in its whole beauty.

    BTW:
When using the TurboGL in Q3Arena I can´t see the models when I select a model for my player; when using the standard ICD the models are shown in the menu.
Furthermore the mirror in the veryfirst introduction arena shows a wrong texture when moving far away from it. Again, only when using the TurboGL...

...sorry, that´s a "nofix" for me.
32-Bit Z-buffer is enabled, but no real improvement.

      Hi TDI,

Don't know if it will help to fix your problem, but have a look into the OpenGLDrv.ini located in your UnrealTournament/System folder ...

Open it and copy'n'paste the following into that ini :

Try to en-/disable 'UseZTrick' and see if it fixes your problem.
Could also be a problem of multi-texturing, just test the settings provided and if neccessary change them at will

Further more you could increase your framerate by lowering the logarithmic texture sizes (2^11=2048, 2^8=256 etc.)

      ...

Btw, it would be very usefull if you'd provide your system details.

        forgot to mention:

those entries for the OpenGLDrv.ini are identical in UT & Unreal, hence they can be used for both games ...

Wow, someone who might help me out !!!
          Cool.
          Ok, here my specs:

          Main-home PC:

          Asus P2B 1010
          P-III 450MHz
          160 MB Ram
          SBLIVE! Value LW 3.0
          G400 DH 5.41 & TurboGL drivers
          Lan-adapter
          Pioneer 103S DVD
          Mitsumi 4/2/8 CD-Recorder
          1x 3GB Quantum Fireball
          1x 5GB Quantum Fireball

          with Win98 SE US (DX7)

          and the usual blabla.

I´ve put the mentioned entries inside of the *.ini, but I had no option to select the TurboGL anywhere.
The only thing I could do was to select "all devices" / "OpenGL" in the "usual" setup program.

In the advanced options (system console / preferences...) I didn´t find a Matrox OpenGL entry either.

How did you enable TurboGL ???
Did you replace the OpenGLDRV.dll ?
Did you copy the opengl32.dll (turbogl) in the System-directory from UT ???

I´m really curious about this, so more details would be VERY nice!!!
HOW did you get it up runnin´ ?
          What are your framerates ?
          blabla

Hope to hear soon from you!

Well just Check the Box in PowerDesk Labeled 32Bit Z .... That should make all calculations done with a 32bit Z no matter what the game calls for... (atleast I can do this with a G200, pretty sure you have the same option though)
