Well, I just ordered a Max from the Matrox store and saved shipping & sales tax. This makes the Max $42 cheaper than buying a Max in Seattle/Bellevue (we have a 8.6% sales tax and the Max is selling for $260 retail) (BTW the GeForce is selling for $270)

I now use a G200, and by my calculation the G400 Max is 4 times faster than the G200. I plan to keep the Max until a new Matrox card arrives (the G888)and is 4 times faster than the Max.

I also plan to upgrade my CPU from a P2 450 to a P3 600 'this spring' and this will make my Max even faster.......

Hi everyone, i new here so here is my 2 cents.

I own a lot of cards (not bragging here) but the card that i like most has to be G400!!! Voodoo3 and future are crap now so the battle leaves GeForce/Pro and G400 Max. Persently i am using the G400 16MB SH OEM which in a few more days will be upgrading to the Max version because after what i have seen in what my OEM G400 can do, i believe the Max can do better!!! In Singapore, G400 Max is more expensive then GeForce!!! but why don't i consider GeForce than.. Reason is simple, G400 features more innovation then Geforce. EMBM and Dualhead is something no one in the market is intenting to do therefore G400 dominates the market. You might say that Geforce has T&L and Fast framerates then G400. Also, Geforce has Cube enviroment bump mapping too. But this is what these 2 card are so different. If you want visual, G400 is you want speed, Geforce.
In a few more weeks, i will be getting Geforce Pro. From there will i conclude if Geforce's Cube bump mapping as good as EMBM. right now i don't think so after reading what Matrox has posted on their website. Who knows...

Oops, too diverted already. Hey, go for the G400 MAX now. I also say that Matrox might not be coming up with any new product so soon until they have finalise the driver problem first!

16 megger is the way to go as you already have the drivers and it will give you about a 2x improvement, I got a 32 megger DH at a comp show for about $160 usd, the 16mb SH should be around a $120, then you can sell the g200 for $75 and be a smilin'

I'd say wait for now. The G200 still runs games pretty well on the likes of a Celeron 450. The G400 isn't going to make the world of difference, and the drivers definately still need some work. Half Life and UT im getting hatching (flickering) on the graphics of lights and explosion marks. You can always go for the g400 in the future and of course the prices will have dropped and be better value for money.
