    I don't get anything whacked as Matrox don't tell me anything insider much anymore. All my stuff has to come from "sources close to Matrox" these days, tried and trusted sources

        No, no, no! The G450 is just a plain normal G400 with special drivers that enable the built-in hardware T&L

        And you must upgrade to G450 to be able to use those drivers, althought your plain G400 has exactly the same silicon on it.

        Oh, wait, I was confused, it´s Matrox, not Microsoft...

          You're still confused. That's what Apple did with their G3 motherboards. They run G4's just fine, but Apple won't let you.
