G400 and DVDmax ?

I´ve problems with my TV out on my G400
When i play DVD´s the monitor runs perfect, but the TV flickers..looses frames?!
I´use PAL and connect it with s-vhs to scart on TV.
I use the newest drivers.

I´ve got PII 350
196 RAM

Anyone got the same problem?

nope ... have you checked the 'DVDmax TV settings' ?

In there you'll find an option on what connector you use, maybe changing that one helps ...

I use the "composite or s-video"
Thats the only option i can use to get a picture!

When i use dual clone, the TV picture is perfect!

Only when i use DVDmax...

First of all... Maggi: I want your 'working rig'! (but with my G400MAX, of course...)


Patrik, this may be a stupid question, but have you tried (or are you able to) try COMPOSITE input to your TV? Just to prove to yourself that your SVHS - SCART connections are all good.

Also, check your settings under DVD Max TV settings under the DualHead tab. In the upper right corner, there's a pulldown for 'Output Cable Type (Europe Only)'. In there are options for SCART-Composite and SCART-RGB; if you're using an SCART connection to your TV, I'd assume you'd have to set this up accordingly.

(But what do us North Americans know about PAL or SCART ).

yep! I´ve tested evry option in "output cable type"

i can only use "composite or s-vhs"

And i can´t set the TV to "COMPOSITE input"
Do i really have too?

If dual clone works fine... why doesn´t DVDMax work?!

What resolution / colour depth are you running your primary display at?

I think I read somewhere that the primary display settings have some bearing on how the DVDMax output works.

I've had no problems with my DVDMax, but I've only tried it with a primary display of 1024x768x32bpp.

Do you have DVDMax and DualHead clone both enabled together? I doubt if this would make any difference, but you may want to try enabling only DVDMax.

Also, what settings do you have selected under DVDMax Options? I'm running with
'Preserve Aspect Ratio'
'4:3 standard'
'Detect based on video window size'
'Scale only on page flip'
'Use field-based scaling'.

One last thought; have you tried DVDGenie at all? I know I ran into some screwy TV results when playing with it.

I use 1024*768 16 bit!

I ´ve also tested DVDgenie and got some screwy results!

But i´ve read a new post!

Have you read it? They talk about something called PAL60.. might this be my problem?!

The thing with PAL60 is when you are playing an NTSC (region 1) DVD on a PAL TV. You get a slight stutter every 2 seconds, barely noticable to some people, pretty annoying to others.

Ofcourse with the wrong settings it is more than a 'slight' stutter But If you also have problems playing a PAL DVD (region 2 amongst others) on a PAL TV this is not your solution.
