  • G400 shairing IRQ's

My G400 is sharing IRQs' with my cable modem card, but all is running fine. I only pose this question because I have read posts that the G400 should not share IRQs'. So if everything is running fine, should I just not mess with it? Another question, since I install the latest drivers, I can no longer use my Pure 3d 2 V2 card(only for Tribes). Should I install the previous drivers and reinstall the V2?

It seems this is the most common question on the forum right now.

If it works, just leave it alone. My G400 shares IRQ 11 with my network card, too. Once I got it working this way, its never given me any problems.

I can't answer the V2 question (never used one), but I would think the G400 by itself should be as fast as the older V2 and therefore the V2 is unnecessary.

      V2 doesn't use IRQ...

bunnymud! Don't mess with the settings unless you are planing to play games online.

According to the latest official figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless...

          bunnymud,

my g400 is sharing irq 11 with my sblive with no problems...online or other wise. i play my games at 1024x768 with no latency issues what so ever. if it's running fine i would not mess with it.

I concur with my associates. Mine shares with SB Live and all is well.

Even went through trouble of removing Live as well as reconfiguring with seperate IRQ on another hard drive/fresh op system install and got no improvements in FPS or 3D MARK benchmarks.

I used to be one of those folks who thought irq sharing was no big deal...

Hell, my BX board shared half of my cards! (irqs 9-12 were all shared by 2 or more things) It worked fine though.

My Athlon board does NOT share well...my scsi with usb is ok (11-11), but ANY nic card automatically shares with the g400, regardless of which of the 5 pci slots I pick. They both use 10 (no way to change either, don't any dumbass *dare* try and tell me about ecsd, bios flashing, irq routing and real mode tables) and the computer automatically reboots itself before going into windows. Safe mode works (then remove card, software and hardware) but I'm ****ed out of using a network!

Two isa cards (usr 33.6 and sb64) both work fine though, and taking them out didn't help. They use irq 3 and 5 anyway.
This whole pnp shit is bull...we never got out of the dark ages, we just get lucky if they are assigned the right irqs.
