  • Haig, how to identify 4A boards from S/N ?

Is there a way to identify if our G400 is an AGP 4x board from serial number and not only from part number written onto the box ?

The part number is also on a sticker on the back side of the card itself.

Thanks, but it would be easier to know from S/N in PD information window, without opening the case.

So what does all this mean? That some cards are capable of 4x transfers, or just that it is compatible with a 4x motherboard ?

Newer cards are indeed capable of 4x transfers.

So, when buying I should check the product date.

Check the serial number, if possiable.

That will tell you for sure weither it is or not. should have the "4A" in the seiral number.

No, not the serial number...the PART number.

As Kruzin said, it's only in the part #.

I recieved my G400MAX from Matrox 10 days ago and it's a 2x so they may be still flushing the stock. I don't think 2x to 4x will make much difference yet, 1x to 2x is hard to tell now.
