  • Will future drivers support DVD module?

The last G200 driver that supported the DVD add-on was 4.33m. Does anyone know if Matrox has any plans to add support for the DVD module to future driver releases?

    Regards,

    Justin B.

    It's not the drivers.
    It's the Zoran software.
It's to stupid to recognise the Matrox card without some form of PD 4.xx on the machine.

There has not yet been any official announcement made for a release date, but there are supposedly updates from Zoran in the works...

      Kruzin:

In the meantime, is there any kind of workaround? Perhaps a way to keep PD4.x but with 5.x display drivers? Sorry if this question sounds stupid, but it don't cost nuttin to ask

The G200 DVD Module does work with 5.25, and I've been using it for about a month now....
          ...I'm also using VT151e
I've tried all drivers released so far, and after 4.33, only 5.25 works......they seem to have disabled it again in the 5.3x and 5.4x....a very strange game they play.

Matrox also state the DVD module is not supported using 5.25 (not that it's supported anyway!)

            Kruzin:

Can you confirm Cods' statement about the 5.25 version? I don't want to go through the whole install/uninstall for nothing. I'm functional and reasonably happy with the 4.33 version, but I'm told the 5.x have some improvements in video capture that I would like to enjoy.

            Thanks

I have no way to confirm it, since I don't have the DVD add-on, and my G200 has not even been in my system for quite a while now.

I have heard several people say this works in the past, so I have no reason to doubt them. I've also heard others say it didn't work for them.

Worst case: it doesn't work, and you have go back to 4.33....

I tried to help a friend with that stupid zoran player (on a g200 with dvd-hardware-modul). We reinstalled it several times but we had always troubles. So he bought windvd and it works great. Because it's a slow machine (PII 233) the software seems to support the hardware-modul, the pictures are really great!

The Hardware DVD Module can be made to work with the v5.25 Drivers, and the 5.41 Drivers (IF you have a RR-G or a G200 Marvel, I don't know about a regular G200...)

There are issues with the region codes, and trying to get your DVD drive recognized properly by the software, but it does work.

If you happen to have more than one CD\DVD-ROM, you would do well to assign the DVD drive a drive letter that comes before the other optical device, as sometimes the Zoran software gets confused (I've noticed this with systems that use both IDE and SCSI CD\DVD drives).

Hope this sheds some light on the subject.

Looks like they fixed some of these issues with the new patch, 2540_103 ...
See the release notes and download the latest patch.

This patch will only patch (as listed in notes_zor103.txt) 2523_207 or 2523_205 to version 2540_103 ; I have version 2523_502, for the HW module.
Is this the patch Haig has been talking about since September?
Haig, please: Are there any patches coming out for the 2523_502 version, or has this been dropped?
