Hi,
I am a new user of Matrox product. Having read about rave reviews of the G400 Max, I finally bought one and had some problems. I
came to know about you because of MGATweak -- cool programme.
I hope you could give me some inputs regarding the following problems
since you are the Matrox expert :-
(1) When I was using the older version of driver that came with the G400
Max card (v5.1), I noticed that the picture display is very dark when
viewing VCD using window media player. This darkness is not
changed despite adjusting the gamma properties of the display card. I
had to set my monitor to full brightness and contrast before the picture
quality is same as that provided by my old card (Real Magic
Netstream 1 mpeg card). Is there a way of adjusting brightness in Window
Media Player ?
(2) When I installed the latest Powerdesk v5.41, the VCD picture quality
in Window Media Player deteriorated DRASTICALLY --- THERE IS NOW VERY
OBVIOUS PIXELATION !!!! I had to switch back
to version 5.2 to get descent picture quality. Please advise ....... I
am sure there must be some way to have good VCD mpeg quality playback
using Window Media Player using the v5.41 driver, BUT HOW ? --- IS THERE A REAL PROBLEM WITH THE v5.41 PowerDesk version ... If so how to deactivate it ?
(3) There is an extremely slow response when I played Rogue Spear at
1600x1200 resolution. There must be something wrong with the TurboGL
driver installation.
(4) I finally could start Quake 3 using the latest v5.41 driver, but the
TurboGL driver was SOOOO SLOWWW... it was SLOWER THAN my old computer
system (Pentium 233MMX, using 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 PCI 16 mb). I had even
to run it at a lower resolution at 1280x1024 in-order to get some decent
speed.
My system configuration is as follows :-
PIII 667 BE (coppermine)
SD133 128 mb Mitsubishi ram on board
Microstar BX-Master motherboard
Sony 19' GDM F400 monitor - running at 1600x1200, 32 bit colour, 85Hz
refresh rate
Window Media Player v6.4
DirectX 7.0a
G400 Max driver ranging from 5.1 to 5.41
Please help.......
Thank you very much.
Ng.
