  • G200 + 5.41 drivers = work for anybody?

I'm having the "pause every couple of seconds because pdesk running" problem like many others who have a G200+5.41 setup, but I haven't read anybody who is running the latest drivers without any problems with a G200 card. Is there anybody out there who isn't having any problems? I'm using 5.30 right now, which works great by the way.

Yes. Installed last week for my friend on PII-400, Abit BH6, Adaptec 1394, Adaptec 2940U2W, SoundBlaster Live!, 128 MB PC100, G200 8MB SDRAM and no problems yet.

No problems with the PD here.

But short (abt. 2 secs) stalls occur between semi-random intervals when running any D3D or OGL apps or games. It's very annoying in games which require accurate-timed inputs (example driving games). This does happen with or without PD.

Yeah, I had a problem with 5.41 and the G200 on my SS7 system. I posted a fix a while ago which involved melding 5.41 and 5.30 or 5.25 together. Basically, just uncompress the two drivers in sperate directories, and copy the powerdesk files (PD*.*) from the odler drivers to the 5.41 directory, overwriting the newer files. Then install the drivers, and you'll have the new G200 dll's with better image quality, and the powerdesk support files from the previous driver version that doesn't cause the skips and high cpu usage.

I still have a the pdesk pause prob w/ 5.41 and my G200. Didn't try the "meld" of 5.30/5.41 though.

I'm using 5.30 until something new comes out.

PD 5.41 is good except when I wanted to play System Shock 2. I dropped back to 5.25 to play SS2.

5.30, didn't run any D3D app with DX 7.0 so thats out for me.

PD4.51, 5.13 and 5.20 (MS Certified) all failed to run a couple of demo's with DX 7.0 also.

5.25 works for me until the next driver release.

                          Regards and Happy Drinking.

I just put a new Epox EP-MVP3C2 board in my old G200/AMDK6-2 350 system. I have not been able to get the 5.41 drivers to work properly yet. I reformatted and reinstalled Win98SE on my primary partition. With the standard VGA drivers, everything is fine, but when I install the 5.41's, I get a vxd vmm(01)blue screen error when I shut down.
Is this the famous Win98SE shut down error, or is it something else? I never had any problem with my G400/Epox EP-MVP3G5 and both mobo's use the same bios. Its bugging me because there is nothing else on the partition yet. Just Win98SE and the DX7 upgrade.
