Is 5.41 slow? Or am inhaling noxious gas?

But between 5.30 and 5.41

i went from 2601 to 2444 3d2000marks.

Anyone else see this?

Anyone else want some nitrous oxide?

Thats the problem with nitrous, unless you heat it to 550 degrees F it wont release the oxygen, so it puts you to sleep.

And if your gonna inhale it, use only medical grade nitrous, as they put sulphur in the stuff for automotive consumption to make it unsafe to inhale.

I got the same slowdown in the benchmarks. My 3dMark2000 went from 1700 to 1630 using the 3dNow! optimizations on my K6III-450/G400Vanilla. I don't recall the change using the d3d optimizations, but there was a slowdown there, too. But so far, I haven't noticed it in games since its not that much percentagewise (-4%).

I don't think the results for the G400 in 3DMark2000 can be considered valid at this point. Sharky Extreme recently did a review of the new Elsa GeForce, and they noticed a slow down in the helicopter game simulation:

"The G400 Max's overall score is significantly lower than the 660 Plus in the helicopter game demo but slightly higher in the adventure demo, which gives the G400 Max an overall lower score. We spoke with Matrox about this and were told that this is an issue with 3DMark 2000 that will be fixed with new drivers."

(The Gigabyte 660 Plus is a TNT2-Pro, clocked, I believe, at 170/180. Sharky was using PD 5.41.)

Although I'm not absolutely sure if this accounts for the speed difference Ami experienced after upgrading, I would expect any speed losses to be recovered and then some in an upcoming driver release.

Nah. Mostly because I have a P3B now. (But not completely. uh. Figure that one out.) ... er, what I mean is I still have the out of the box bios for the P3B... Dont know if that'd have anything to do with it.

But hey neatoid. I'll wait for new drivers, whenever that may be. And I guess I'll update my sig.

The slowdown could be something to do with a bug in 3DMark2000 with PD5.30, or just a general bug in 3DM2K ...

Our systems are essentially the same, and I got the same results. I think Paul is correct about the glitch with 3dMark2000, since with the 5.30 drivers the test didn't appear to be running right.

P.S. Where'd you find a P3B-F? I was looking around and no one seems to have them in stock.

If your looking for a P3B-F check out www.5oclock.com they had some there last time I checked. personally, I would avoid that motherboard, I recently did some benchmarking (Pent3B 600mhz, vanilla 6400, 128ECC PC-133 SDRAM, win98se), the board's framrates in Q3 (I know, just a game, but...) were about 3 fps slower than Abit's BH6...just some food for thought.
