It's running at last! Hope this thread helps others with the same problem. Had to reinstall Windows 98 1st edition because my mainboard bios had no option for enabling ACPI, despite the latest upgrade dated 12-6-99. Which is odd because my other computer uses the same chipset and had the option. Thanks for help.

I have not heard so much wining before. Microsoft puts out a new operarting system that supports a signifcant number of cards and just because it has problems with yours, you blame them. There are thousands upon thousands of hardware combinations that can be done and to blame Microsoft because there are some combinations that do not work. If you want to blame it on the Operating system, go buy a Macintosh. They're use to it anyway.

I FOUND A CURE
i had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM when i first got my Jetway BX2000 MotherBoard (via chipset)
i had to re-install windows then when you boot up dont put in drivers for your G400
Straight away install the via 4 in 1 patch from www.viatech.com (i think)
after rebooting and finding all the new agp gart drivers and things, then put on powerdesk, it worked for me..........
i hope it helps a few others out as well

Sounds like most of you have problems with Windows. Where's the admissions that the G400 had little or nothing to do with your problems? Most of the problems started with "my G400 is ok but it causes the following problem...". Not the G400 - your computer and your version of Windows. Post your conclusions. The G400 had little or no fault.
