I have a really annoying problem with my G400!

Ok, I install drivers, i play games, surf internet (have to force to agp1x cause of the collored lines)
and after i turn my computer and go to windows (like after a night) when my desktop comes up, there are no desktop but all the coloder lines, only the lines are still, and computer freezes, i can boot back to windows thru safe mode, and reinstall driver, or go to system>performance> graphics, and move the slider all the way to left (removes all acceleration) to go back to normal windows.
ALso I have windows 2000 installed with latest drivers, and when someting happends in windows 98,I go to 2000, and everything is fine than, so whan can I do to fix the problem, and my card is NOT overclocked.

my system specs:

Athlon 500mhz
MSI MS-6167
Matrox G400 DH (not max)
Toshiba 6x DVD
SB PCI 128
128 RAM

Interesting first off what are your interupts and what version are your drivers. Have you also used the Matrox uninstaller to remove all traces of the previous drivers.

My irqs are fine, G400 + IRQ for pci steering are on 9, nothing else
I use 5.41, and yes I used uninstall utility.
It is so ANNOYING

People come one, today i had to go some place during the day, and when I came home, same thing happend, i am in w2k now, cause i cannot reinstall drivers anymore, cause i am annoyed!!!

A couple of possibilities:

Is your power supply one recommmended for use with an Athlon by AMD?

Have you tried reseating your card?

Have you had this problem with all other cards removed from the system? If not, which card (when added) causes the problem to reappear?

Are you able to try a different memory module? If so, does the problem still occur with the other module?

Have you tried reinstalling Win98?

Is your case well ventilated? If not, heat may be affecting the system from a number of angles, such as processor, memory, video card and maybe others.

Are you able to try your G400 card in a different computer? Does it appear to work fine?

Did you assemble the processor/heat sink yourself or did you buy it preassembled? Do it correctly? (sorry)

All I could think of with beer.

(this happends when i leave my comp off for some time (so it should be cold)

tried to force it AGP 2x.
I recommend you get the g400 registry hacks
at this site and force the card 1x.
Believe, theres no relevant performance
decrease.

o have to force my card to agp1 to make it run games, and this all happends in APG1

What is the power supply wattage? If it is 230W, then that is almost certainly not enough for a stable Athlon system. AMD recommends 300W or better.
