I want to take my G400 Vanilla to the max.

Hi guys,

I already have my G400 dualhead running stable at 150/200, without additional cooling. Soon, I'm going to buy a Athlon 500 to replace my also overclocked PII 350 @ 450.

Now, to provide even more fillrate to be matched with the speed of that Athlon I want to try to overclock my G400 even more.

Currently, it only has the standard heatsink and I can set it 150/200. My memory seems to be able to get a litle bit higher, xxx/210. My core however already freezes when I try to clock it at 160.

What I want to ask, is wheter it might help when I install a fan on top of the heatsink. And if possible, how to do it?

Yes, it will help you to get higher ...

I added two fans, one onto the heatsink, the other one on the backplate pointing towards the center of the G400 chip.

I used superglue, because my big fan exceeded the size of the heatsink so that I had no chance to use screws and the backplate also didn't offer any holes to fix the fan.

What kind of coolers do you use on that picture?

As there is no way to screw them on you G400 board, is it maybe possible to fix those fans on top by simply using a elastic. Might sound stupid, but I'd rather not use superglue.

PS: I don't know if elastic is a existing word in English. In dutch it is 'elastiek' and it is a rubber band with which you keep your lunchbox together for example.

If you put a few more fans on and a couple of wings it may just take off. The first G400 in orbit apart from the non working ones.

A topic at Mga tools, a guy said it has no difference in preformance any more if the pll is over 500Mhz.

sorry, but they are no-brand fans and I just grabbed 'em 'cos they were cheap.

Does that card take off and fly around the room.
I'll tell you what you need to do for cooling. Is drill a cut out in your fridge take a bit tubing and a fan to blow the cold air in. Thats the cheap version of Krotech cooling.
