    Hi,

Compared to my score, anything above 2000 3Dmarks looks awfully high to me...

Anyway you seem to have reached my friend's Athlon + GeForce

It seems like the G400 is a very good card but a bit CPU limited... Maybe I should consider a CPU upgrade. My PII 450 is just too low...

Congratulations Paul, you now have the highest CPU clock speed on the forums!

Now, when are we gonna all hook up again from some UT/HL/Q3 frags?

      Dave

btw, I'm not letting those benches go unchallenged...

Just be patient Wombat. When your Athlon gets here, you too can have scores like those. Especially if you get the golden fingers.

We don't like to think of the G400 as "CPU limited." We take the glass is half full approach, and say that it is very "scalable," that it is more "future proof" than most boards, and that it likes a fast CPU.

                  RAB,
I don't know. I can't talk myself into springing for a G400. I may have to stick with the G200 I have for a while.
However, the CPU should show some potential. It's a 500@600, from Step Thermodynamics. It was $300, including cooling, and a nice long warranty on both. I plan on putting an Eclipse (or Step's similar unit, due out in a few weeks) on there, and seeing what it can do.

I'm sorry, all this 3DMark99MAX is making me nostalgic, and ill! Sorry, time to move into the 2000's people, or better yet, drop the synthetic benches and use real games. =) Quake2/3 is good with me...

                      Congrats Pauly !

You really got a bud-kicking beast to tame...

Could you check out if the scaling is still present when clocking back to let's say 800MHz ?

There must be a limit on the G400, but not even Greebe with his 900MHz Athlon seems to have reached it.

                      Cheers,

WooHoo Pauly!!! finely some real competition

Rob, "Step's" crap sucks! Their HS fan combo is a piece of shit and they're only marketing it like they are because they can't sell their shit otherwise.

Agent, did you forget the "Boom Baby" thread?
                          I've been upto 900!

Paul's Q2 scores are the same as mine @ 850 in software mode and at 6x4 and 8x6, but the 3DNow whams him @1024x768 = 90.9

The 3Dfarq2k score is the same except for the cpu test which he wins by 70 some and I'm = to him in 99 except in the CPUmark 99 test where I beat him by roughly 2000. Go figure... Gefarq and Intel biased benchmarks... geesh

after I tested @ 900, me Max has had some problems... still trying to resolve the issue... but the cpu is still solid as a rock (could be an issue with all the drivers etc I test so frequently)

It does make you wonder what even an older benchmark program produces. Anyone want to step in with the likes of Benchmark95?

Who's the first to break 1GHz, outside of Intel itself?

The winner will get Pauly's old rig (386-SX-33, OC'ed to an unbelievable 366MHz... Yeah right !! )
