  • M3d & G400 not working together

I cannot get to work together my vanilla G400 and an old matrox m3d. I need it to play the games that were bundled with the card (MDK & Ultimate Race).
When I install the drivers, the matrox m3d
    seem :

    a) to overwrite the opengl32.dll
    b) to slow down the G400

I cannot play any games until I take it off the computer : in fact, when I play games (both Opengl & direct3d), every 5 seconds there is a terrible slow-down.
I tried to use the D3D switcher, but with no result.

    Probably doesn't work but...
Try to close powerdesk - with 5.41 I had to do that to get rid of slowdowns every 5-10 secs.

Geeze...I can't believe that you are trying to get the M3D to work when you've got a G400. I've got an M3D. It's been sitting on a shelf in an esd bag ever since I got my G200. And now I'm on my G400.

The M3D was kinda like the voodoo1 in concept. It was meant to be an additional video card to exclusively replace the 3D of the primary card. It did look a lot better than the Mil I & Mil 2 for 3D gaming. I seriously doubt if Matrox thought about keeping compatability with M3D and the G200/G400 because G200/G400 do 3D soooooo much better.

Well, I'm not much help here.

Yes, but I once also had a M3d and I want it back... for memories´s sake...

Shame it doesn´t work well with the G400

I'm sure he'd drop the M3D, if someone could tell him how to run the games that came with it.

Exactly, Wombat. I'd like to play Ultimate
Race, that was bundled with it...

Okay, MDK is an m3d optimized version, so that one won't start.
Ultim@te Race needs a PowerVR chipset to start up.

So no work-arounds that I know of. Sorry.

I am trying to find a way to make G400 and m3d work together..
Why do combinations like G400+VoodooI/II work and G400/m3d doesn't?
