  • Anyone get a chance to try G400 MAX with VIA KX133?

Does anyone know if these two monsters will work well together? Thanks everyone.

    Man, where are you?

The only place KX133 boards have been seen so far is HK and Taiwan.

They aren't released yet. (But if you know how to get one, drop me an e-mail

I bet you'll have to install the latest 4in1 drivers.

IF somenone happens to get a KX133 DON'T use the 4in1 - the AGP driver install routine on it is buggy as hell. Get the seperate AGP 3.59 driver download. Also, avoid using the Via busmaster drivers, they cause problems with a lot of CD / DVD drives and burners.

Via have problems with Cd's and Dvd's. God when will they learn. Pity if they sharpen up there act we'd have a real alternative to Intel.

            PIT,
I wouldn't speak yet. Not to be rude, but I don't think you know what you're talking about - very few people are qualified to speak about the KX133 at this point in time. VIA's chipsets hadn't worked as well as their Intel counterparts is that they had to reverse engineer everything. It's amazing that they got the functionality that they did.

However, with the KX133, they have a partner. AMD has a strong interest in VIA having a top notch chip, and have been giving VIA loads of help. AMD needs this chip to run well, and help prop up the Athlon rigs.

And you already have an alternative to Intel. My Athlon board has AMD chipsets on it.

Wombat I do know what I'm talking about. I've owned a via chipset and I also work with computers and most of the wierd problems come with Via chipsets.
I lost faith with via when they put up this one their website about zip drives and tape drives. "These devices are new to the market and we're talking to the manufactures about the problems etc" Thats the basic jist.
Okay that was around 2/3 years ago but zip drives and tape drives had been around for years. At the same time when Microsoft wrote drivers for windows 98 they worked while Via's continued to balls up.
It doesn't seem Via test department is A1. You cannot deny that the most stable trouble free setup is with Intel chipsets.
You will also see I was responding to the fact that there drivers arn't not quite what they need to be and wasn't discussing the merits of the hardware.
I presume internal ide zip drives and tape drives do now work by the way.
