Yes, just copy the install.inf file into the directory where the 5.5 drivers have been extracted. You could also do this by adding the [Mfg.Matrox] string with the ID for your card to the install.inf file that came with the 5.5 drivers, but Thorgal's method is much simplier. I wonder why they are only using the G400 owners as guenia pigs though?
edit: Might be my G200 SD, might be cuz I'm using a SS7 system, but those are definitely beta drivers. Hell, a beta of beta drivers. Fatal exception error trying to _start_ 3DMark with 'em. And I doubt I can really go higher than 3300 3DMarks anyway. Not that I really care, I am happy with my 25.6 fps at 1024x768x16 using high VQ settings in Quake2, the odd times I am in the mood to play it.

"I wrestled with reality for 27 years and I'm happy to say I finally won out over it."
Did the install.inf hax0r hassle and installed the 550's.
The driver "features" seem to be the same as in 541. I ran thru the usual stuff which I test with every PD release and here's the results:
1. Pre-random stalls with any D3D or OGL app are still there
2. GLQuake/GLQuake rainbow textures are still there
3. 3dMark99Max demo version waterfall and armageddon effects stutter badly. Benchmark results are quite the same as with 530 and 541.
The only thing what I have noticed so far to be fixed, is the flickering screen fades in 3dMark99Max. I haven't tested Driver yet, as it flickers the same, but I will when I have enough spare time to do it.
