Weird G400 OEM Problem

Just installed a 16mb G400. Problem is when I try to run the demo, all I get is pretty music and what seems to be a weird screen. I can see the commands on the menu but some of the letters are changed to numbers .... real weird. I am using the latest "certified" drivers from the web-site. I tried the beta drivers, same problem. Also the beta drivers disabled bu-mastering and I couldn't enable it.

I am using an ABIT VA6 VIA chipset PIII 5000 Katmai motherboard with the latest drivers.

The first menu uses a lot of 'artistic licence' on the options. Many people think that it's corrupted, but it's just being fancy. Even with the numbers, do the words make sense? Include a screenshot if you can.
