  • For Maggi...

    Maggi,

I am basically a lurker here, but I have a question for you.

I remember a few months back when you posted pictures of your modified G400. I have both a G400 and G400MAX and would like to tweak the hell out of them, but first I need cooling. What kind of cooling do you have on the card? I remember somthing about a 80mm fan on one side attached with superglue or something. A picture would be nice, too. If you need to, you can email them too me at cole@cole3d.com.

    Thanks,
    Cole

I too have an G400 DH and just bought two fan's. I'll screw one onto the heatsink and I want to place the other, with another small heatsink, on the back off the G400.

How did you guys and girls put it on.
Just with glue or with special pc glue (if that excists).

I don't want to burn my G400 because I used glue that isn't good for the alluminium/copper/...(?) connections on the board.

nice setup iskandar...so you were able to reach 150/200 with your vanilla G400?

i can get my vanilla G400 to 150/200, but i actually leave it at the default clock because i don't play any games on that machine. with the regualar MAX cooling, i couldn't get it past 165 core/210 memory (i think the memory was 210) i think it has something to do with the cooling, that's why i wanted to find out more about Maggi's Suped-Up G400â„¢...

              Thanx for crediting guys ...

I used regular superglue, because I didn't find any proper holes for using screws and my frontside fan is larger than the heatsink itself so it was they only way to aviod those fans taking off ...

              Anyway, here come those pics:

              ...

for the backside I used a small piece of metal to create a little gap between the fan and the PCB.

                Cole

I could easily reach 150/200 with those fans. Unfortunately, any higher and I'll get white lines across my screen.....

                CyberNavy
The second smaller fan came with a kind of double-sided thermal tape and my OEM G400 back was quite smooth, without any circuits bulging out, so attaching the fan was no big problem. Not for the DH G400 though!

                Maggi
I don't remember the front-side fan being that BIG!!!!. Must be ripped off a really unfortunate casing!!!

                Cheers.....

cool, project G400MAX is in the works...

glad to hear you liked the site. i've done a couple Matrox reviews, that you may have seen on Ant's news page. i actually bought the G400s because of persuasion from Kruzin in another forum. now i'm glad i listened to him.

... any time again, Cole ...

                        and Iskandhar ...

I'm at MAX levels and can't go a lot higher, but remember I have one of the early boards which won't go as high as the latest batches ...

And I don't use MGA tweak, I made my changes permanent ...
