Bit of a blast from the past!

I dunno if any country is better than another.. in theory, there is no difference. But I'd rather have an Irish or Canadian though...

I got a 16mb OEM, and it was made in China. I got it 3 months ago, but the BIOS version was ancient, so I assume that it was one of the first boards made. I also noticed that the BIOS was already flashed twice! It this a refurb? It might explain the OpenGL crashing problems that I've never been able to fix.

I hear that some of the different countries use a few slightly different components... what I wouldn't do to trade this for a newer board.
                My hardware:

                Matrox Millenium G400 16mb
                Asus P5a-b super socket7 motherboard
                K6-2 300 processor
                128mb pc-100 SDRAM

                My software:

                Matrox bios version 1.3
                Matrox drivers 5.41
                TurboGL 1.0002
                Motherboard bios version 1009b1
                Directx version 7a
                Windows version 98SE

All my G-series boards were either made in Canada or Ireland.

All the 4x boards I've seen on shelves were made in Thailand.

I have seen 4A boards from Thailand -puff, puff and Ireland - glub, glub (guiness stout). The real question is if boards assembled on Friday have problems - like cars in Detroit...
my 4A is from Ireland via the USA Matrox store - but it tests as a 217D not 2179 - sisoft says 16mg sdram but it has 8x4 meg sgram....and tests correct....hummmm
                          AMD1200, A7V. 400g Max, RR, 512mg sdram, Pioneer 10x DVD 104s(no soda holder), Creative DVD dr3, 18g ultra66, 6.4g ultra33, Atapi Zip & PP 100, SB Live Platinum, Cambridge Theatre 5.1, DTT2500 Digital, USB Broadband Blaster, Windows XPsp1

Sisoft Sandra tells you that you have 16mb if dualhead is enabled. At least it did for me.. Oh yes, my g400max is made in Ireland.
