  • Help connecting G400 S-Video output

I want to connect my G400-MAX to my TV using S-Video, but the G400 S-Video is 7 pin and my TV is 4 pin, and all the cables I can find only have 4 pins.
Is there some sort of converter I have to get?

I'm in England by the way.

IT still works though using the 4pin cables, doesn't it?

But how can I connect a male connector with 7 pins to a female connector with 4 holes?

The g400's s-video connector is a female conector... unless I'm imagining things...
and if your cable has 4 pins, then it'll fit the matrox' 7 'hole' connector.

just checked it is a 7 pin female connector, 4 pin?
sounds like an apple talk cable?
or a s-video extension they cay be wired differently.
            I'm in England too.

              OK, another question:

What would the MAXIMUM length of S-Video cable be before I start to get degradation?

My PC is up in a bedroom, and my TV is downstairs in the living room. It's quite a distance unless I start drilling hols in the floor/ceiling and moving furniture around - even then it'll be about 10 meters.

as I understand it 10 metres is about the magic number, but you can go a little longer.

OK, I guess I'll stick with 10M then. I'll get the tools out this weekend.

                  Thanks for your help.

                    Hi,

I'm just using 15m of normal Videocable to my TV and it shows no diffence to 1,5m. Is that not normal?
