I don't know if this will help at all, but watch and see if your hard drive is swapping while you are playing the games.

I know I have a problem with it swapping for no apparrent reason right in the middle of a game and it causes little slowdown spikes at about 1 second intervals for a little while and than it settles down and runs smooth again.

By the way anyone ever had this problem? And would anyone know how to fix it. Could you email your ideas if you do. wett0029@tc.umn.edu

      No, it's not swapping.

This is what you should do:

      1. Choose to disable swap file, from control panel, system, performance..

      2. reboot.
      3. Defrag your hard drive
      4. Choose a permanent swap file from where you just disabled it. about 200-300megs should be fine(?)

      5. reboot

      And that should help.

Shoots I forgot to reset the swapfile from the last time I reinstall Win98. Well I'll do that again now and see what it does. As for Defragging the harddrive, I usually do that weekly of bi-weekly. So that probably Isn't it.

        Thanks
