  • What are best (most stable for non techie friend) G200 drivers for Win98SE?

I sold a friend my G200 +8Mb + TV out +ALi M3309 DVD decoder when I got my G400. I asked you guys which drivers were recommended as being most stable (he isn't much of a gamer - only MS flightsim so far - and isn't at all technical so I don't want to have to try to solve problems on the phone too often).
I think the answer at the time was 5.25.
Anyway, tomorrow I'll be upgrading him from Win95 to Win98SE and need to ask the question again of all you loyal G200 owners.

    Any recommendations appreciated.

    Cheers

    Tony.

I've had no problems with the 5.41 drivers on my G200 and its in a MVP3 socket 7. Just remember, use the Matrox uninstaller to get rid of the old drivers BEFORE you install any new ones.

Thanks RAB. Anyone else got any suggestions/preferences? I should have mentioned that the system is a Quantex Pii-350 with a BX motherboard.

When I do the upgrade, as the disc is a Full version and not an upgrade, I'll be deleting the \WINDOWS directory and all the hidden files etc in the root, then booting from a WIN98SE startup diskette.

      Cheers

        Fic va503+, 128 mo sdram, k6-2 450, g200 8 mo

        I have tested 5.13 , 5.25 , 5.31, 5.41 drivers with my g200 and i can say that the fastest drivers are the 5.13.
For exemple, in the blowup demo for half-life:
        -800*600 16 bit, d3d mode, 17.5 fps with 5.13
        -800*600 16 bit, d3d mode, 15 fps with 5.25

But for the stability , i think the 5.25 are the best.

PD5.25 and VT151 are the best and most stable for my G200, with all addons (DVD, TVOUT, RRG) - All other versions seem to cause more problems than its worth, for my PC's.

            Thanks Chaps.

I stuck with 5.25 as it was easiest.

Now if I could just get his damn USB memory card reader to work...
