Yes. Get one of the DVD players that works under Win2k, such as WinDVD 2000.

I had the same prob! I read that most people can use windvd (downloadable for www.dvdutils.com) But this would't work for me.. I ended up with powerdvd 2.55 (same as above d/l location) this plays perfect unless I start messing with the controls mid way through playback, then it soft reboots the machine! It will do for watching films untill some more stable players come available, for me anyway!

To get WinDVD2000 to work under Win2k, please make sure of the following:
1) Turn any type of DualHead function off, be it DVDMax, Clone, or Multi Display.
2) Make sure your desktop resolution is less that or equal to 1024x768
If any of the DH functions are on, or your desktop rez is higher than 1024, WinDVD2k will "lock up", and you'll have to open up task manager to stop the process. Hope this helps!!!

I only use a TV on that machine, turning DH off is not an option! I don't get any freezes either in WINDVD it just plays until it reaches the copywright postion then keeps re-playing the initial section! I think it's something wrong with the region!! and dvdgenie doesn't change anything!

I could not get either WinDVD or PowerDVD to work in windows 2000. WinDVD just gets stuck on the opening screen, redisplaying the same scene over and over again, with some corruption at the bottom of the screen. PowerDVD reboots my machine with no warning.
Also, after enabling DVDMax, programs don't start properly in my machine at all, giving me a error message " Program failed to initiailize properly". As soon as I switch to the VGA driver, they work fine. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the G400 driver with no luck. It seems once you enable DVDMax you are doomed. I tried deleting all the registry entries that had Matrox in them as well before reinstalling and still no luck. If anyone could help with a solution that does not involve reinstalling Windows 2000 from scratch, it would be greatly appreciated.
