Help! NTSC output problem with G400?

I can't find this particular problem in a search (so please forgive me if this has been covered already.)
I have just bought a nice 28" Dolby Surround wide screen TV that is PAL/NTSC Multi-standard. Excellent I thought, just great for playing Region 1 DVD's (I researched it before buying the TV and found that most people have a "jittering" problem with NTSC playback on a PAL tv) but even though I can select NTSC 4.4 on my TV I can't get a colour picture.
I have tried both S-Video and Composite cables. My TV has the AV channel turned to S-Video input when I use the S-Video cable.
If I output PAL then I get colour?
If I output NTSC I get a lovely black and white picture? (I don't have Black and white selected in the output)
The tv has a setting of PAL/NTSC/Auto
If I output PAL and change the tv to NTSC then the colour goes all sort of washed out so I beleive that the TV is working correctly but without any other NTSC device it is hard to be certain...
Does anyone else have this problem.. know the solution.... or should I try and get the TV replaced as faulty..???

This smells like trouble.

I have been running a topic on this for a while now and we tried to research somewhat into the subject. First of all - NTSC exists in two different standards, 3.58 & 4.43. After talking with retailers and suppliers, nobody seems to know the differences and no one will guarantee it functionality with DVD devices.

I have also talked to Matrox in UK. They told me that the G400 NTSC output should not be version dependent (how that applies im not sure). Which should mean that buying a multistandard tv should do the trick - but since no one seems to know for sure im not wholy confident in what Matrox says.

I have ordered a TV, which should arrive sometime this week, this tv has both NTSC 3.58 & 4.43. I will tell you if I get lucky. If I do - the problem could be that youre TV lacks the 3.58 support. If so, you *might* be able to switch it in the store - if you press the fact that the NTSC isn't complete/ meets the expected demands. Im not sure if they buy that, but depending what their policy is you might make it.
Next step would be to lunge down your computer to the store and try it there, even though that might not be the most fun option. At least wait for the results of my experiment.

Bilbo, I have successfully connected a JVC AV-21MEU to my G400 MAX (Cinemaster) using NTSC 3.58 with great color. NTSC 4.43 gave black/white.

My TV owner's manual says NTSC 3.58 is for NTSC broadcasts, and NTSC 4.43 "Depends on component type" (whatever that means). I guess you have to use NTSC 3.58.

BTW, the numbers refer to 3.58 MHz and 4.43 MHz. The 3.58 NTSC is USA and 4.43 is sold in Europe.

Looks like my TV only supports NTSC 4.4 which isn't the one that my G400 outputs on
Hey Matrox how about supporting both NTSC versions in the next set of drivers. I can't be the only one with this problem if the European NTSC is 4.4 (which seems to be the case). There must be people out there in Europe with NTSC TV's that can't be used for Dualhead!
Geez, after all the researching I did to get a Tv that I could get nice flicker free region DVD playback via my G400 on.. it kinda makes me mad!

Bilbo, you may be able to buy a converter to change NTSC formats.
