Sorry for prolonging this thread so much.
However, I did a clean reinstall and - guess - nothing changed. I am kompletely out of brainz...
I reinstalled Win98, the miniport driver, PD 5.41 - to no avail.
To put a few new things into the battle: When I run FS98 (Direct3D), the 3D part of the screen becomes garbled just too often, and sometimes, when I don't quit it fast enough, it garbles the Win desktop, too, as if there were a memory leak through which Direct3D messed with the fonts.
Another problem is with Q2 (OpenGL), still, where the textures become messed and flicker when a light (like a shot) goes by. I mean, you cannot play Q2 when it looks like a Christmas tree! The bots and the scenery itself look fine, however.
(Maybe I should add that Unreal and UT (Direct3D) run fine.)
