  • Colour Depth Problem with Win2K

I just installed Windows 2000 on my 300MHz K6-2 computer, and I am experiencing colour depth problems involving my icons. I set my display to 32-bit colour, and although the desktop background and all non-system application images are in 32-bit, all of the icons (on the taskbar and desktop) are in what appears to be 16 colours only. The problem went away when I first installed the latest G200 driver, but it reappeared once I re-booted. Does anyone have any idea about what could be wrong? (Incidentally, the same icons in the links toolbar in my taskbar look fine in Internet Explorer.) I have a Mystique G200 operating on a FIC VA503+ motherboard with a VIA MVP3 chipset. Any ideas would be appreciated....

Just to make sure: is the checkbox "show icons using all possible colors" checked? It's located in the effects page of display properties.

Yes, I made sure that it was. Does it seem like a fault with the G200 chipset?
