• *POSSIBLE* solution for some of you who have 3D locking up....

"Machine Debug Manager"
What does this program do? I removed it from the startup folder in windows and now, all my stability problems are gone. I haven't done any heavy testing of my games, but I have been able to play Q3A(3 tiers so far). No lockups, no corruptions, lines, etc, etc..

Here is where you can find this program in Win98SE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MDM.EXE

I removed it from startup using msconfig.
I will work my 3d harder tomorrow, but this *might* help some of you who have problems with your 3d locking up on you in any 3d game. If this doesn't work, try temporarily disabling various other programs within msconfig.

BTW, I came upon disabling programs from the startup after Explorer crashed on me and I decided to try a game out then. I had no problems so far(Tried Counter-Strike, Quake2, and Quake3). So, I decided to see if it was a program that was causing my instabilities. I haven't tried to remove other programs from my startup, but it is what worked for me. GL to the rest of you who are having problems.

P.S. I will try newer drivers tomorrow(currently using 5.41 drivers with no TGL)

Yes. Before, I couldn't even get past the first scene in Q3 where you start off looking in a mirror. Right at the beginning. I would hardlock right at that moment. Now, I have just gotten through playing The CampingGround with 6 other bots. Gotta go to class right now, but I will stress test it tonight.

JamesA the Dumbass decloaking!!

Uh.. Did you install any development tools or do you have weirdo version of Windows that has debug programs coming out of the wazoo?

Just curious.

Grail - From your other post, I think you have the old G400 Bios version. I would update this when you have the inclination.

Disabling start up items might prove very helpful. You can do this from start-run. Type msconfig and press enter .The last tab will let you disable almost everything. Just do not disable any item windows requires for start up (do not disable anything you do not know its function, that is)

hope it helps...
