  • Drop G400 32 vanilla for G400 Max???

I was thinking about upgrading my g400 32mb vanilla to a G400 max...thing is I do have my card overclocked 121% with the PDO drive. am I going to notice that much of difference with a Max? is it worth dropping 220 bucks on? Its not like im not happy with the g400 vanilla but hey I keep hearing that the Max is so much better...but I built a second computer and right now it only has a v3 2000 and i thought hey why not put the vanilla in the second computer and get a new card for my main one.....so and forgive me for saying this but I did contemplate on getting the **cringes** geforce...its only 50 bucks more. but I love My Matrox card so much I dont think I wanna stray...so bottom line keep the cards the way they are with g400 vanilla in main and v3 in the second or upgrade to Max in the main and put the vanilla in second... I wanna hear you guys .02 cents

I've heard that there's a revised board, called the G450, on it's way. I have no idea of a timeframe on this however. But if you've got the urge, and the "capital" to back it up, I'd say go for the MAX. It will simplify your life, because you won't have to hunt down, download, and back up copies, of as many drivers. I previously had a V3 3000 in my main system. It is now installed in my backup. When I switched to the MAX I noticed it is able to do 32bit at the same speed as the V3 did 16bit (but I shouldn't have to rave on about that ). I just wish I could afford another MAX for my second system. I guess I have to wait . Wish I was in your shoes!! I know what I'd do.

I agree, I don't think you'll see any significant increase in performance over what you have now. Try to do what ever you want to do as cheaply as you can, and wait for the next generation.
