  • Win2K freezes when booting with G400

I'm having major trouble with my G400 Max and Win2K. After installing the new drivers, Windows refuses to boot. I get past the Powered by NT screen and when the next screen comes up to load more, the scrolling bar freezes. I can move my mouse but if I click five or six times, the whole system freezes. The hard drive gets accessed about once every 2 seconds but other than that, its totally frozen. If I restart in VGA mode, everything is fine. Any thoughts?

What is the chipset on your m/b? Do you have an interrupt assigned in BIOS? Are you using the ACPI kernel?

I'm using an Abit BE6 which is the BX chipset. I don't believe I have ACPI enabled and the BIOS is not assigning the IRQ. I did try changing the BIOS to initialize the card but I had the same problem.

Nevermind, fixed the problem. Darn IRQ's! Simply had to Enable Assign IRQ in the PNP config in the BIOS.
