  • G400 Max and SB Live = SAME IRQ????

Any ideas on how to free this up? I have SB16 emulation disabled. Both appear on IRQ 15. I've tried redirecting them thru Soyo 6BA+IV BIOS both w/ IRQ steering (haha, don't laugh), in addtion to "forcing" VGA IRQ and trying different slots. Nothing works.

The ironic part of it is , that aside from a game or two where I seem to be getting a bit of sound degradation, everything else seems to function quite well! Still I'd like to rectify it if possible.

According to Sisoft 99Pro, I have IRQs 5,9,14 available. Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Bad Sector

Well usually it's done by not running the SB in the slot next to the AGP.
But, I see you have already tried that.
Do you have PNP OC enabled in the BIOS?

Don't worry about it, my G400 Max and SBLive! currently share the same IRQ. Never had a problem.

If you really want to stop them sharing, you will have to try it in different PCI slots, as Mark mentioned above, PCI1 (nearly) always shares with AGP, and on many motherboards so does PCI5.

I am having the Dickens of the time with my SB Live or perhaps my Promise Raid controller and it's/their interaction with other cards! I don't know if it's the Drivers or what but I have ordered a new card from Promise and swapped it out, changed the cables etc.. to no avail! I have the same HDs as you, and it seems that after I load the drivers, what ever card I load the drivers for after that starts the problems.. reading from C: BSOD and DLL errors! Also the SB Live! Value gives me a VMU BSOD message. I can swap out the Sound Cards (Vortwx2 and SB Live!) between the 2 systems, but the problem can start after the G400 driver install too! All using the latest drivers/Bios (when avail.), nothing O/C'd!

        Any suggestions?
