  • w2k and d3d problem *stare*

    ok, i am totally dumbfounded.

after installing w2k and finally got everything up and running (including solving the media player - thanx pds and got the sblive drivers running), i downloaded homeworld demo and installed it. as soon i as got to the 3d part, screen breaks up hangs! i would go through the usually hardware testing routine if this is a new system, but this system works on win98, win98se, and win-nt! did i miss something about w2k i didn't know about? help please *grumble*

i temporily solved the problem by switching the agp aperture from 128m to 4m. i am too tired to see if that will slow down my computer some. if there's anyone who has a better solution, please drop me a note

the last time i had the same problem was when i first got my g400max and solved the problem when i called matrox and switch out my card from the 2-wire one to a 3-wire one. it had worked for win98, win98se, and nt4.

anyway, time to go to work. have fun people

I had BP6 with 2 processors and I couldn't run any 3D game at all. I changed Computer type to One Processor and all was fine. I tried the same with Riva TNT2 16MB and It worked with 2 processors. I think it's the problem with matrox drivers.

bummer. thanx for the info. i had to disable bus mastering to get my d3d going. funny though, i didn't notice any lost of performance after i disable bus mastering. does bus mastering matter as far as w2k is concern? can anyone verify this?

Shhhh you guys! Gurm's gonna stop in here and start sighing...

Apparently there are known issues regarding multiple procssors and the current drivers.
