i have the hibernate function available to me and i have a non acpi hal, i tried it and it worked, but then i disabled it to reclaim the 512 mb of hd space it wanted.
my hal is a "MPS Multiprocessor PC", in my bios i have a compatability flag setting...acpi aware os...yes/no, set to yes. win2k powers down my monitor and scsi hdds' perfectly.

yes i am using the final win2k drivers. there is another interesting aspect to pm in win2k...that being the power button on newer systems.
for example; my system bios has an option to set the power buttons' behaviour...on/off or suspend. this causes win2k to behave differently. i built this system myself and it is based around an AMI motherboard.
