  • G400 vs G400 Max

    Hi

I don't do any games or 3D stuff.
Is there any need or advantage to go for the
MAX version of the Matrox G400 card... ?

I have place the order for the basic
    Matrox Millenium G400 (32MB) - together with a
    22" Liyama 510.

It is being assembled for me by DAN.co.uk here in the UK, who claim
an excellent service record... well, its not too late... should
    I change my order ?!!

    - Any views ?

Oh and I'll be using it with WinNT4 (sp5)...

The only reason to get a MAX is if you plan on running that huge monitor at 2048x1536. The extra ramdac on the MAX will let you do that at a higher refresh rate. Other than that, they are pretty much the same card for a non-gamer...

Well i dont know how fast your CPU is but it think the only major difference is that the MAX has 5ns RAM as opposed to 6ns.

If you are not using the card for *games* then my advice would be to keep the extra cash and put it towards a house or something.

      Cheers,

The Welsh support two teams when it comes to rugby. Wales of course, and anyone else playing England

FYI The processor will be PIII 700MHz on a Supermicro 820 Chipset motherboard.

I shall be running at pretty high res
        and full colour.
