i've read that the new pd 5.52 should work now with ss7-systems.

    BUT HOW ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

    - i've uninstalled the old pd correctly,
    - i tried all via-drivers from 4.16 to 4.20, but 4.17(i don't get this one anywhere!!!) and AGP4.0
    - i've tried turbogl 1.0/1.3 and pure ICD

    OPEN-GL still not working !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm starting to hate matrox for this

    :-(

Why are you hating Matrox? I have SS7(ALI) and zero problems. Maybe you screwed something up in your registry or you have missing files or you have bad hardware or you have a resource conflict or your power supply is supplying enough power to your components? Just maybe if you tried a few more things, you might solve your problems.

AS I always say, when in doubt, re-format

Nah, I think it should work. Something is probably wrong with your setup. How about posting your IRQ's and other information? Have you got busmastering enabled, etc? The previous PD's have problems mainly with G200... Whar is your AGP aperture size, what is your AGP mode set in BIOS to?

            (Sorry, let's start with basics...)

It seems to be a problem with Epox Mb only.
              I have a Mvp3G2 with k6-3@430 Via Agp 4.00
              and Pd 5.52 + Tgl 1.3 doesn't work !!
Q3 doesn't work with ICD, too
Hey Matrox release a Pd 5.5x to solve this problem !!

Have you installed the IRQ miniport drivers for your motherboard? This has NOTHING to do with the AGP drivers. Win98 appears to treat the MVP3 chipset as a VIA VP2 chipset. This causes it to cause driver conflicts within Win95/98. Once you install the miniport driver, it MAY fix your problem. I found that on all MVP3 chipset based motherboards, PCI and AGP cards have all sorts of nasty problems that are not obvious. Ethernet cards show up with the yellow "!" to show there's a problem, but no obvious sign why. Vid cards get all sorts of problems as well. I hope this helps.

There does currently seem to be a problem where the Epox VIA SS7 systems are concerned. The TurboGL will not work with the 5.52 drivers and Quake III does not work with the regular ICD. It is being looked into. Other than that my system is stable and everything else I have tested runs good.

Nope, PD5.52 on my SS7 Epox MVP3G-M and K6-III 450... D3D kicks some serious a$$, but OGL in Q3 is a no go.. just crashes my system hard so I need to power off. Odd thing is the Q3 intro loads (the ID software thing) but it crashes at a black screen before the menus come up.

So, I'm using PD5.52 with the OGL ICD from 5.41 and that works. TurboGL didn't work with 5.52 either.. white screen crash.

hopefully one of these releases will get it to work :P

OK, apologies. I still have a G200 on my kids' EPOX MVP3 system, and I have given up even trying new versions of drivers...

Well, the same goes now for G400 as well. Well, hope they get fixed drivers out sooner than later. Maybe they'll fix the G200 as well. Or then, maybe not...

I'm gonna get real close to a rant here, so fair warning!

Check my sig so you'll KNOW where I'm coming from, and then listen carefully boys and girls.

STOP BLAMING YOUR VID CARD FOR PROBLEMS THAT ARE OBVIOUSLY RELATED TO YOUR CHIPSET!!!

                          STOP IT!!

                          NOW!!

There's a very simple fix for you whiners: Enter the wonderful Wintel Hegemony and get yourself a nice Pentium with a BX chipset and then post back in here and complain.

Why should Matrox or anyone else have to hack drivers that obviously work fine for many ss7 systems as well as all Intel chipsets just to make them work on a substandard, noisy chipset that has a clearly documented and long history of poor performance and unacceptably high variability in quality control? (In other words, some work fine and some don't--you roll the dice with every board.)

Fact is, you buy a VIA, you takes your chances boys...take it from one who OWNS one. Live with it, or get compatible hardware. Better yet, go get a Gefarce, try the same stuff and blame your problems on them.

This has all been dealt with numerous times, but perhaps you need a reminder 'Weinix. It's your own thread:

                            Hey Bixler,

If you want to get more performance out of that K63-400 and SY5EMA+. Disable the L3 cache and set the bus to 124mhz fsb. Then set the multiplier to 3.5. I ran my K63-400@433 this way for months without a problem. I also set my voltage to 2.5....but I did that just for the heck of it.
