  • "Banned" G450 info ???

What was so sensitive about the Matrox G450 article on the Ace's Hardware site, that they had to remove it all at Matrox's request????

OK. I could see Matrox having a fit about the G800 info they had there at Ace's (whatever it was) since the G800's arrival is on down the proverbial road a bit, but the G450 info??? Come on! Isn't it going to debut in the next few weeks?

Well, in any case, does anyone know what details the Ace's Hardware article had on the G450?

    TIA

From what I've heard about G800, it's gonna 0wn seriously. Of course noone's ever gonna say something exact...
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

I like to keep the fires burning

If Matrox had their heads screwed on right they would milk the situation with people like me to whip up interest, but they don't they like to play the silent game.

Well personally I would love to hear all about the new stuff big M is cooking up but I can think of a couple reasons why they would keep a tight lid on it. One obvious reason is the competition, if they don't know what you got you can catch them off gaurd. Of course if the competition wants to know bad enough they would just hop a few booths over an see for themselves. The other reason that comes tomind is how everybody complained when delays came with the G-400 and MAX and they do actually pay attention to these forums (we see you Matrox) and I think they want to have a definite release date so they don't get all those complaints... Since they're listening we love to overclock so throw that stuff in their!

          Guys,
Any information leaked or otherwise can have serious consequences on release dates design etc.

          Here's the perfect example..

Look at ATI, they were working on a chip which will include hardware T&L and once they heard about the NV15 specs from Nvidia they cancelled the project and it was back to the drawing boards. Otherwise if Nvidia didn't release spec's ATI would've released the chip and who know if it would've been a success or not.
So all that research went down the drain.
Think what could happen to Matrox if another company new what they were up to and designed a chip just a bit better to compete.

That's why it's best for everybody's interest if Matrox and other companies keeps their projects hush hush GET IT????

Regarding the Matrox official, I think it was an honest mistake, he probably got a little too exited about the new chipset and had to share his excitment

          Regards,
          Elie

I read that article before it got removed ...

The only 'fact' they posted according to the G800 that it 'could' hit the streets when DX8 comes out and they (of course) had no real information on that topic.

I'd also like to know why that 'article' got pulled back, because they were rather speculating then anything else, IMO.

This is just normal practice for the Matrox secret police. It is a strange situation where someone goes along to something like CeBit and talks to the official Matrox representatives who openly tell them one or two snippets without a NDA in sight and then to get slapped down for mentioning it.

Personally I never have and never would break an NDA but I'd consider soemthing like the above to be perfectly legitimate and I wouldn't have pulled it from the MURC. All of my G450 and G800 info has come from sources outside of Matrox and I know it is accurate but Matrox have not approached me to pull any of it.

You mean like what happened to Rendition when Matrox announced the G400?

...but ...from the banned article does anybody recall details on the G450 mentioned?

I was wondering if the new Matrox processor chip is built on 0.18 micron process, what maximum refresh rate is with new card, if it still has 32MB maximum memory, etc.

                  That's really about all.

                    The 'G450' was mentioned briefly.

I was actually disapointed by how little info there was about Matrox. I was surprised that Matrox asked Ace's to take it down...

It will be very nice but not extreme-gamers' favorite.

                      g800:
T&L, released at about the same time as dx8.0 which should be July or August.

                      That was all.....

Does that mean if DX8 slips the G800 slips?
