  • How to get 3200x1200 with G400 Dual Monitor??

Both my Sony F400 and Viewsonic FP790 is capable of doing 1600x1200 individually. However, when I hook them up in dual monitor mode with the G400max, the highest resolution I can get is 2560x1024 in Win2k. What gives? How can I get a dual monitor set up that is 3200x1200 (i.e. 2x 1600x1200)? Is this a Win2k *feature* again? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The problem lies in the secondary display RAMDAC. If you go to Properties -> Settings (Click on the Second Display) -> Advanced -> Information. Then uder RAMDAC you'll see the Secondary display only sports a 135 mHz RAMDAC. The primary has a 360mHz RAMDAC. Hopefully they will include a faster ( about 250 mHz) RAMDAC on the G450's and G800's!

the reason you get the limited resolution for the second display is because it's not using a "RAMDAC" it's using matrox's TVO chip to drive it. remember that dual head is a solution for people to use a "secondary" display it's meant to be a display used for secondary display purposes who needs to see the terrain map for instance in 1600x1200 32bpp with EMBM when the action is going on on the main display or the same goes for a rear view display all the main action is going on on the main screen you glance at the secondary display then get back to the primary one... Then there's the 2D aspect of dual head and again thesecondary display is meant to be secondary I don't want to waste more time I'm not tryin to yell at anyone but if you "need" 2 monitors with full capability then dual head isn't the answer you simply need 2 video cards.
sorry it's so long I didn't wanna stick it to you hope you don't take it that way
