    Hi,
I don't have that board but saw a post on the amdzone board that deals with this. There's apparently also a new bios for the epox board but it's a beta.

    Hope this helps.

crap i never considered it might had been the driver (5.41)!!! I too have had the same problem with my g200, it hiccups about every 1.5sec sometimes out of the blue when im playing quake3 (i thought it was a RNAAPP issue) --chickensoup, does it go away after a couple of reboots or is it consistent?

        hi,

first try to change the bios setting

        peer concurrency : disable OR
        PCI 2.1 : disable

Snoop ahead : disable (normal setting enable)

        --------------

Change the pci latency : try value 8 or 16

        -------------

in Windows delete : Pdesk from memory : ctrl+alt+del. Be carreful, pdesk is hard to delete, check if it has been deleted from memory.

I will buy a KX133 too, but i think it is too soon, Perheaps your motherboards trouble will find a solution with a bios upgrade.

But if you can't find any solution, change your mobo for a later revision.

Well, if anyone is interested, and ChikenSoup and any other Epox 7KXA owners probably will be, i noticed yesterday that Epox has released a new BIOS for the 7KXA. You might want to give that a shot and see if it fixes the problem.

You can read about it here. http://www.slota.com

            and download the BIOS here.
REMOVED, bad file, see post below.

Yeah, that BIOS release is supposed to fix the problem. Like I said, I couldn't remember if it was "memory hole" or not, just something unusual. And this problem is not with just the Live cards, but several others as well. Hopefully it does fix the problem... Be sure to check out AMDZone, wherever I saw the post on it, the original info was from there.

I hope no one has downloaded that BIOS. It seems there is a problem with it. You can read about it and get the updated BIOS here.

Well I downloaded it and installed the thing and it seems to be working fine for me.

Also does anyone have more suggestions on my original problem...

As far as I know, I don't quite have my EP-7KXA yet. There are two places in bios where the onboard sound must be disabled. See this page > http://www.gotapex.com/reviews/ep7kxa/ep7kxa_4.htm for details. The latest bios is supposed to resolve some of these issues. This is the latest (official) version > http://www.amdzone.com/files/k7000308.exe I also read somewhere that this update makes some of the previous "fixes", like the memory hole at 15-16MB, unnecessary. Hope this helps!! Cause in about a week I'm gonna be in your shoes. Oh BTW my SB Live is the OEM version of the X-Gamer and/or MP3+ (aka PCI 1024).

Of course there is my standard answer to everything - turn off DMA on your CD and/or DVD. I had this problem long ago on an old FIC 503 and that fixed it.

I also ran into a similar problem after upgrading my Vortex drivers. It was solved by uninstalling the old drivers first and then installing the new ones. (Doh! you would think I've been around here long enough to remember to do that for everything - not just Matrox. Sure enough, the Vortex readme said to do it.) Uninstall and reinstall your Diamond drivers if the DMA thing doesn't fix it.

Also, DO NOT use the VIA busmastering drivers. They cause more problems than anything. Just use the Win98 busmastering.

I am actually running a G400 (max, I dunno) with a SBLive! on a Via Apollo MVP3 chipset, with latest bios and drivers for everything (using 550 drivers for the G400) and everything is running perfectly. Other than slight driver problems with the latest release, i have had no problems...

What version of the bus-mastering drivers are you using? I am running the 2.1.44 from viatech, and am having no problems. unfortunately i DID have problems with there newer release, but neither are available anymore. With win98SE, you should install only the agp and busmaster drivers. (from what i have read all over the net that is)

Also, is there a way to find out if a G400 is NOT a Max version? Mine has the Dual-head, 32 Ram, but i was told it was just the Millenium. Are there test progs out there, or something on the board itself?
