Download DVD Region Selector (they're on Version 1.93 now), which has lots of other nifty features as well as a region changer.

Would they have any patches up their sleeve for those of us that bought SoftDVD from Matrox for our G200s? (for the hoards of us who couldn't get Zoran to work!)
I have a the following:
Millennium G200 AGP
Rainbow Runner G-series
Matrox DVD Add-on
I have upgraded to the new BETA Video Tools 1.5 and the PD5.15.
I had uninstalled all previous software and followed the instructions provided for PD5.13 install from previous 4.x version.
The Millennium and the RR G-series are working great, but my DVD add-on is not working properly.
During installation it shows Region 1 do you want to change and I select "NO". After installation and reboot however the Player shows Region 2 even though the hardware is set to 1. I haven't changed to 2 at any time and hesitate to select 1 again in the setup and loose one of my change options (three changes total.)
Is there a fix available to make the software use the correct Region in the hardware?
You can email me directly from my profile if you would rather.
I, too, eagerly await this patch with much anticipation, and a degree of caution.
I just bought the Stanley Kubrick collection, and can't f***ing watch it!
My region was set to 4 origionally, and got whacked to region 1 when I (unfortunately) updated to PD5.13 when it came out, and had to wipe my system to restore old drivers (pre un-install). Updating to 5.15 and VT1.5 made things even worse, not being able to install SoftDVD at all.
How did this region change to 1, when I don't have any region 1 DVD's, only 4 & 0? Could formatting and loading a new W98 have done this?
Don't know if this patch will address any of thier scsi problems.
All they told me was that it was going to fix all those CCAD errors during setup and region code related problems.
They have a full report of all SCSI problems which tech supp has received since we released this app. I guess we'll just have to wait to see what the patch actuallt fix.
Cods, format didn't do this. It's a bug in their app which they want us to tell our clients to update to win98 SE. We already told them this isn't an acceptable solution so they fixed it in this new patch.
Upgrading to Windows 98 SE is not an acceptable answer for Zoran to provide your Tech department. For one thing it doesn't solve the Region code problem.
I should have posted that in my first post.
Here's my specs with all details to help track down the source of the problem.
ASUS P5A (Bios 1007)
64MB PC100 SDRAM
AMD K6-2 350Mhz
Creative Labs Encore Dxr2 (Firmware 1.8) (I don't use the card any longer, just the DVD drive which is listed as compatibile with the Zoran software.)
ActionTec Deskvoice Pro PCI modem
Matrox Millennium G200 AGP (bios 2.3-11)
Rainbow Runner G-series
Matrox DVD Add-on
Windows 98 SE
Ali AGP 1.6
Ali 3.4 EIDE drivers
Matrox PD5.15
Matrox BETA Video Tools 1.50
Haig, I really appreciate your looking into this problem. Looking forward to the patch!
By the way, love the new Video Tools! I know that the features are the same a the previous release, but it does feel more stable to me.
I believe that Zoran was responsible for the green TV output of the Mystique G200(I am still waiting for Matrox to reply to my RMA request) and my Zoran DVD upgrade module has never performed the way it should. Now I have no DVD at all. HAIG-I hope you Matrox guys give them a rocket-preferably right out of your system for good.
Hi, I have not tried this with a scsi DVD dive but it certainly helped with my Creative labs ATAPI DVD.
Go To adaptec and downlaod the aspi32.exe.
This will update your aspi layer for scsi and some atapi devices, this is very important for DVD playback.
(a lot of DVD software overwrites the aspi files with krappy old versions)
If you have scsi stuff, it would be a good idea to run it anyway.
(gets things up to date)
Does there appear to be any chance of the patch for the DVD module being released today, as tentatively stated previously in this thread?
My DVD's are getting dusty!
BRegards,
Y'know I asked for the same thing in the Desktop Video forum for SoftDVD (as well as links for patches for my Marvel G200's Avid Cinema). I like the card, I really do, but I'd like it a whole lot more if all the features of it worked at once. I only have two DVDs, but was about to buy the Alien Legact box set and/or the Kubrick collection that I've been saving up for but I'm holding off until this gets fixed already.
