  • Dual cards

I am looking to use a Marvel G400-TV in the AGP slot and another single output video card in the PCI slot, for a 2 RGB + NTSC arangement. Another version would be to use a G400 in the AGP slot and G200(or ATI All in Wonder) PCI capture card. One person at Matrox told me this is possible, but then another Matrox person told it is not possible. My goal is to have two RGB monitors for photo editing and the same, plus an NTSC video monitor for video editing. Does anyone have any experience in this area?

It should work fine with a G200(non-marvel) and a MarvelG400. It should also work with an All-in-Blunder + Marvel, but you will probably not be able to use the video capture of the ATI (like you'd want to anyway, with a MarvelG400 ). Video capture needs to be run off of the systems primary video card, which in your case would be the Marvel...but photo editing should be fine on whatever secondary card is in there.

So Kruzen, How will this work? The Marvel in the AGP slot doing the video capture, another single card in a PCI with an alternate or extended desktop?

Can the ATI in the PCI slot be the primary? Can a Millenium g400 in the AGP slot be the secondary and still do some 3D gaming?

Yes. And the TV fed by the G400 could also have desktop extended to it (Win98 supports extending the desktop to multiple displays), to clone the primary desktop, DVD Max, or as a zoom viewer for the primary display.

This will depend on your motherboard's bios. If you have an option to select video boot order, you could have the PCI boot as the primary. Not all bioses have this option. This could be a little more problematic though, as games will want to use the primary adapter as well. You would need to use some sort of device switching software to toggle which card is being used by Direct3D. Even then, you may run into problems with some games...
