As you can see, the scalability of G400 is very resolution limited. In 1600 you cant play nothing since card is way too slow for that resolution. Talking about Q3 you will find framerate increase in low resolutions. If you like to play in 1024*768*32 the game will have serious slowdowns, although average frame rate will be decent, around 30 fps. Note that you will have 30 fps no matter if you have celery 400 or P3 800.

Maggi, look at topic "Q3DM9 Question" in Matrox Gaming, January 9, 2000. I posted a few benchmarks for Q3A in different resolutions, all 32/32, for a guy wanting to compare the G-Force DDR and a 64MB card vs the G400MAX. The G-Force seems to have some problems on this DM, and a guy did his own demo to check it out. BTW, I had a couple in 1024X768X32 (with a bunch of other stuff set high, too) and got well over 30 fps. If you read the entire thread, you will see that the setup he dictated was pretty intense, way more than I ever use to play. I don't know how to do a link in UBB or would link you there.
I don't know if my specs are there,
K7 750,MSI 6167, 128MB, G400Max, SB live X-Gamer, UDMA 66HDD, bla bla.

Maggi, I went ahead and ran the Quaver demo in Q3A (it is the DM9 BM I ran in the previous post) in 1600X1200X32/32 and got 13.7 fps (yuk) in 1600x1200xdefault/default (don't know what default is, but 32 and 16 are the other choices)and got 20.4. Hope this helps!

I know this isn't what you wanted Maggi, but does this sound about right to all you. Using 3DMARK99 with an Athlon 700@700 standard test I got 5931 3dmarks and 11200 cpu 3dmarks. I have a G400 MAX and 196 megs ram too. Looks pretty good to me, but I just wanted to check with the experts...
Thanks,

Maggi, don't you mean an Athlon 1GHz? We all know the Williamette is still in Vaporware phase of it's development. Now, if you asked for a 1.1GHz Athlon with a Thunderbird core, then that's being a bit more realistic, since they DO have those in-house at AMD.

Thanx Guys !
You're great ...
I wanted to find out if any of you guys managed to find the peak performance, i.e. the scalability of its performance when pushed by really fast CPUs.
It looks like the lower resolutions are still not yet peaked ... anybody with a Williamette out there ?
Big thanx to all of you !!!

Maggi

Heh, I was kinda bored so I decided to benchmark my Celeron 366@458 and G400 32 DH. But I have no idea how to embed an excell table so here are some large pictures...
I used Q2 demo1.dm2 and the benchmark option in Breakneck.
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.
